Oh... That's so beautiful! Small drops of the water look like nice pattern. And this warm light...
Very tender picture!

Thanks a lot! :tighthug:
Well, my 85mm I often use for nature and with the 50mm I've taken most of my macros. For me, primes are the real thing in photography! :)

i totally agree! i only have a 100mm and a 50mm but both i LOVE! i want the 35 and 85mm realllll bad. one day, oneee day!! nothing beats a prime in my opinion.. they are just so freaking dreamy! im surprised you use the 50mm for your macros, do you crop your images, or do you try doing the reverse lens macro trick? i use my 100mm for macros and i love it. my fifty is great too but for bugs and stuff i dont feel like i can get close enough :( though i'd much rather have that f/1.4 for my macros over the f/2.8 of my 100. sorry for the novel ;) i got excited over your comment!

And I totally agree with you! :)
Well, I use my 'vintage' Nikkor 50mm/1.4 with extension tubes for the macros, so I can get really close. For example the latest coffe-drop/water-drop pics in my gallery were made with this combination. The Nikkor 85mm is a f2.0, also vintage, which is a joy to focus manually.
I also use an external flash (with softbox) mostly from the side of the subject to give it some depth. When taking pics of nature or nature-macros I totally rely on natural light and add some punch to it in Photoshop when needed.
Yes, sometimes I have to crop my images to get the composition I want.
I'd love to have a 105mm Micro-Nikkor. One day! :D

wow thank you for all the information! i have been interested in some extension tubes as well, but have heard mixed reviews so never invested. though i usually see them used on a 70-200, which seems like they wouldn't hold their crispness. i'd love to try one on my 50! your photos are really, really beautiful, and always so crisp yet delicate. so thanks again for all your information. you clearly have a great eye!
